Although MediaTek is a relatively small processor maker compared to Samsung and certainly to Qualcomm, it will remember 2020 as an excellent year in which it managed to win many designs based on its Dimensity processors produced in 7-nano- lithography. Meters – but its competitors have already switched to a more up-to-date production technology in one or another 5-nanometer configuration, and in the case of Media-Tech it will launch such processors in the first quarter of 2022, and it retains the name Dimensity 2000 for them.
What’s more, according to reports, the first companies to adopt the next generation of MediaTek processors will be Vivo and Oppo. In the current generation, the first to introduce a phone with Dimensity 1000 processors was Opo, followed by Realme.
But even before that, MediaTek is supposed to introduce two new processors that are supposed to star in its list by 2022, and these are Dimensity 1100/1200 that will be produced in 6 nanometers. These processors will still use main cores based on the Cortex-A78, the next generation will already be with Cortex-X processors.
As far as is known Dimensity 1200 will come with a maximum speed of 3 GHz of the main core and with a maximum speed of 2.6 GHz for the three cores of the second line. The third line will be 4 Cortex-A55 cores at a maximum speed of 2 GHz. The graphics chip is supposed to be Mali-G77, and the processor will offer support for LPDDR5 memory and storage in the UFS 3.1 standard.
